Question permision using administrator tool in gnome


i have freebsd7 with gnome install .. i want to use administrator tool such as network, services and etc .. i login to gnome using root .. after i wanna access to administrator tool they say that i don't have permission for that!

so anyone please give me some guide .. actually im new with freebsd .. never use before!

and 1 more thing .. rite now im using DHCP for access to internet cuz im using router .. how i wanna change to static IP with internet connection!

I have same problem with freeBSD 7.0 !!!

my access to important configurations like network & services is denied !!

also , i can't switch to root in terminal with "su" command . the answer is : "sorry" ( but sorry for what ?!! )

can anybody help "us" ??!!

I don't use gnome, so can't speak to that problem.

For a regular user to su to root, you'll need to add him to the wheel group. This is the default on FBSD 6.x / 7.x (not sure about before then) systems, and is controlled via pam:

%cat /etc/pam.d/su 
...
auth            requisite       pam_group.so            no_warn group=wheel root_only fail_safe
...
