OpenSSL Encryption Speed

HI,

I had did a performance test on AES encryption but i don't know how to interpret it.
Please enlighten on the subject. Thanks.

Take one encryption method aes-256 for example:

The raw data:
Doing aes-256 cbc for 3s on 16 size blocks: 6259429 aes-256 cbc's in 3.01s
Doing aes-256 cbc for 3s on 64 size blocks: 1779879 aes-256 cbc's in 3.01s
Doing aes-256 cbc for 3s on 256 size blocks: 459021 aes-256 cbc's in 3.04s
Doing aes-256 cbc for 3s on 1024 size blocks: 101346 aes-256 cbc's in 3.01s
Doing aes-256 cbc for 3s on 8192 size blocks: 12327 aes-256 cbc's in 3.01s

It processed 6259429 x 16 bytes in 3.01s = 33272712 bytes/sec = 33272 KB/sec (or 32492 KiB/sec)

The table below shows the values calculated as above for 16, 64, 256, 1K, and 8K blocks in units of 1000 bytes/sec:
aes-256 cbc 33272.71k 37844.60k 38654.40k 34477.84k 33549.10k

Thanks for the clarification. Blowfish-cbc is a lot faster than aes-128-cbc.
