Just installed FreeBSD 10 in a VM and it's a great distro.
I just noticed that firefox in FreeBSD doesn't have any plugins. I don't care much for flash and java because it's like putting on a broken condom with holes. I do however, want to be able to play some media on some websites as some sites do support html5 media capabilities.
I assumed mplayer-plugins as a starting point for a plugin. Do you recommend something better or what other plugins I could add to the browser?
I did installed linux-mplayerplug-in but firefox stills shows no installed plugins at all.
FreeBSD and it's cousins are great distros for servers but they're not intuitive as a desktop environment unless you're a die-hard BSD user who has successfully used BSDs solely as a desktop. In my case, I'm just a casual user of the BSDs.
Anyway, I removed it from the VM because It's just not for me. Maybe I give it a shot again later on or maybe I'll use PC-BSD since it is more easier to use as a desktop

At the moment I'm running FreeBSD 10.0 in a vm. I've used FreeBSD since 5.x. If you want to take another run at FreeBSD PC-BSD is a good place to get your feet wet.
