freebsd ports updates

How can I update the ports in Freebsd without always being prompt for dependencies? It takes forever to update just because of that alone.

It's natural.
New update -> new change -> new dependencies.
So if you are ok with current state of your ports don't update it for a while. do it time to time

Do you mean to update ports tree or the programs installed via ports ?

For the ports tree do
portsnap fetch update.

For programs installed via ports you can use:
portupgrade
portmaster

Is there a way to just update a single port? such as gnome2 by itself? and also could I do the upgrde without being prompt by the dependencies blue screen?
