FreeBSD Gnome

Hey all,

I am currentally configuring my FreeBSD box. I started looking over the net for a Gnome tutorial. The problem is where you have to have net access from the box, while my box does not have net access directally (I can transfer files via CD-ROM ).

When I look on gnomes web site, I am accosted by many different files to download. The quesiton I am asking is: What do I need to download to get gnome working?

Thanks,
BorgKiller

you shouldn't need anything. gnome should be in your ports collection, just grab it through there.

I would prefer to build from source instead of using the ports, but oh well.

Thanks

using ports IS building from source.

All ports does is make the process easy by sorting the programs, and taking care of dependencies.

Only with 'pkg_add' (which I never use) do you ever use pre-compiled binaries.
