zorin install 2 hard drives


hi been using zorin 15 for awhile and enjoy it . i'm newbie status . have a xeon e5-2695v2 with 32 gig ram [1] pcie nvme 1 gb hard drive wish to add second hard drive but don't know how .
really like linux can make it just the way i want except 2nd drive.

Well, connect the cable to the nvme drive and the other end to the computer. What exactly are you wanting to accomplish? You will need to be more detailed on what the problem is. Do you not know how to create partition and/or format the drive or set mount point and mount the filesystems? Details.

I have zorin installed and wish to add 2nd hard drive for storage . zorin see's the drive but i don't know how to format and use the drive

Gparted is a graphical tool for creating partitions on a new drive. Are you duel booting with windows? Do want the drive to mount when booting up or just when you need to store something on it?

With Zorin as your only OS, the simplest way to do this is to use GParted to create a partition or partitions on the second drive and format them with a Linux filesystem. You then need to create a moount point (directory) on which to mount it and then put an entry in the /etc/fstab file to mount it on boot. You can get detailed info on using GParted at their site (just google GPArted Manual) and there are countless sites available on creating entries in fstab. You should be able to find threads by using the search function here at the LQ site.
