Sound Played through 'Dummy Output'

Hey,

I am running a Dell Dimension 9100. Here is a screenshot of what I see in 'Sound' (if it works)

[IMG]/home/heraqeles/Pictures/Screenshot from 2016-01-24 13:31:31.png[/IMG]

I have pulse audio volume control installed along with gnome alsa mixer, gnomemixergui, and volti.

As the screenshot should show, I apparently get sound through 'Dummy Output'

I had sound before but did a reinstall because I had a problem with Zorin freezes up on me. That issue was solved but since then no sound.

I checked the box concerning downloading third party software on the installation page. I have installed the current 'Nvidia Driver (304).

From 'lspci' I got this:

heraqeles@Zyandros:~$ lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL Memory Controller Hub
00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL PCI Express Root Port

00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family PCI Express Port 1 (rev 01)
00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GR/GH/GHM (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 01)
00:1c.5 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GR/GH/GHM (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 6 (rev 01)

00:1d.1 USB controller: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01)
00:1d.2 USB controller: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 01)
00:1d.3 USB controller: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 01)
00:1d.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01)
00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev e1)
00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 01)
00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family SATA Controller [IDE mode] (rev 01)
00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family SMBus Controller (rev 01)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G72 [GeForce 7300 LE] (rev a1)
05:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family LAN Controller (rev 01)

Then with 'lspci -v' this showed up:

I have no idea what all that stuff means, but perhaps someone can make heads or tails out of it?

This usually means that Linux can't find a sound card, but it being found in lspci kind of rules that out.

Try the following based on commands that I found here and here:
Code:
sudo echo "blacklist i82975x_edac" >> /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base-blacklist.conf
sudo modprobe -r i82975x_edac
sudo alsa force-reload
