Would like to install Ubuntu but I cant

I built my own pc. That I would like to install Ubuntu 18.04. I have tried doing the install from dvd plus a flash drive. They both do the same exact thing. I boot from the medium. I get the screen to install or oem for manufactures. I hit enter then I have the word Ubuntu on my screen. With some dots under it. Sits like that for a few. Then nothing my monitor even goes into sleep mode. As there is no signal. My pc has the following Processor AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Motherboard MSI B450 Pro-A
Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 1050
Memory 16 Gig
The monitor I use is a Dell U2718Q that I have hooked with the hdmi cable. Is there a setting in bios that could make this happen. I don’t get why menu comes up. Then nothing so curious does the monito need be hooked other then hdmi

I will add also I do have windows 10 installed. I do know all my pieces to be working. I’m not looking to dual boot. I’m looking to be entirely Ubuntu.

When you see Ubuntu with some dots, press F2 key, it should show you some text, which may help identify what's going on...

You may have to disable "secure boot" in your UEFI/BIOS. Not sure if any Linux distros work with this enabled.

Just a suggestion but I'd try Linux Peppermint, Mint or Debian since a while back I tried using Ubuntu on usb just for the fun but had nothing but troubles, just a example whenever it went into screensaver mode it was just a black screen and just had too repeatably enter the password until it unlocked. I know the mint's are based on Ubuntu but they ran perfect.

Solved. I had the monitor hooked up with hdmi. Now I hooked up the dp cable instead. When I do my display didn’t go to sleep. Install worked fine. She is up and running. Pass that along for others. Plus who knows maybe both shld be plugged in.
