Question Why isn't dhclient running my exit hook?

I want dhclient to run a script when exiting. I created a executable /etc/dhclient-exit-hooks file that has a echo line just to make sure it gets executed... but I'm getting no echo when I call dhclient. Is there an explanaition for this behavior?
