Using pump as the dchp client

Hi,

I want to use pump as the dchp client instead of others, how can I do that?

I uninstalled connection-manager, and dchp-client3, and installed pump. But on reboot, my network is not up.

Code:
% update-rc.d networking defaults
update-rc.d: warning: networking start runlevel arguments (2 3 4 5) do not match LSB Default-Start values (none)
update-rc.d: warning: networking stop runlevel arguments (0 1 6) do not match LSB Default-Stop values (0 6)
 System start/stop links for /etc/init.d/networking already exist.

% service networking start
networking stop/waiting

% service networking status
networking stop/waiting

# here ps shows no pump

$ ifconfig
lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:16436  Metric:1
          RX packets:4 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:4 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:240 (240.0 B)  TX bytes:240 (240.0 B)

sudo pump

$ ifconfig
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:1f:16:a4:d0:8c
          inet addr:192.168.0.108  Bcast:192.168.0.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: f....

lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ....
How can I avoid all this every time I boot the box?

Thanks

The /etc/init.d/networking script looks a bit like overkill with all the upstart warnings and all that but it has a start / stop function so basically you should be able to use something like '/path/to/pump -i eth0 -h hostname' in the start section and something like 'pkill -9 -f '/path/to/pump';' in the stop section. No need for prefixing it with 'sudo' as the script will run as root. Be aware 'pump' may require arguments to work properly so please consult your documentation and generate (verbose) logging and check logs to make certain it works as advertised.
