I am trying to install Ubuntu 5.10 on a toshiba a75-226 laptop. It begains the install but freezes when it wants to pop up the blue screen to pick your lauange, country, etc. Any ideas how to fix this.
Well there could be a couple of problems here. My first guess is that you have tried the install process a couple of times and not just once before posting.
Your ISO might be bad and you might need to reinstall th ISO.
Your cd-rom might be bad bad which is not a good thing.
I would start with reburning the ISO and going from there. Meaning downloading the ISO and reburning it. The ISO that you downloaded might be corrupted.
It could also be a video problem. When I install on my laptop (a Gateway), I have to run the installer with "linux vga=771" to force the right video mode, or it just goes black on me as well.
