Ubuntu stop loading 6.10

Mu Ubuntu was running well and I have updated to max I mean all available updates are there. I have also install kde desktop on the same.

Thing happened my hard drive has some bad sector on a fat32 partition so i change my harddisk with the same capacity hard drive and the different hard disk that is SATA the original i have was a normal one. and clone the image by Norton ghost. I have a dual boot on the same Machine Windows first and then I install Ubuntu.

The first problem was that grub was not loading which i then manage to correct through live cd and internet. Now Windows is working but the ubuntu is not.

It stops on the kubuntu initial loading screen and there is no activity. I also wish to remove the kubuntu intial loading Logo and back to ubuntu but i want to keep kubuntu.

Now what can i do.

I have ubuntu 7.10 Live Cd now.

The problem is probably with your grub not knowing where the linux partition is. I've forgot how to do this but u might need edit part of grub (the menu.lst i think) and change the ubuntu path. It may still be looking for an hda volume (your old hard drive). Sata drives are labelled sda so u may need to change a few things here and there.

Ubuntu 6.10

Well I have edit grub by editing grub at loading point by these commands

root (hd0,2)

and

setup (hd0)

which i think should automatically correct grub and menu.lst.

If it is however then i will check it if it is not then what is secondly readed.
