Where are the menus for applications? If I knew what it was called I could
launch it from command line and see what the error is.

Thanks in advance,

What precisely do to mean by "stopped working"? A more detailed discussion of the symptoms would be helpful. For example, does the menu not appear (based on what you said above) or does it appear and not launch applications? Does the desktop not load leaving your at the command line?

If you want to try launching something from the command line, you could issue the command "firefox" (I picked it because I know is should be present), then post any error messages that occur here, being sure to enclose them in "code" tags, which become available when you click the "Go Advanced" button under the compose/edit post window.

The busy cursor would spin for a bit and then just go away, Ubuntu software would not open.

I removed and reinstalled snap-store and ubuntu software is working again.

Thanks,
