ubuntu problems

hi,

yesterday when updating latest software, it asked me if i want to update to 8.04 so i tried it everything went ok. but it got stuck in the last 5 minutes for the past 8 hours.

i shut down the laptop but now i can log in but after that it is blank screen.

can anyone suggest something, or do i have to reinstall ubuntu agian(which i dont want to)?

^^Update when going to recovery mode it says mounting local files failed...

help please

Ugh.. Sorry I can't help on this one, but I hope you had a good backup. This is one of several reasons I hate upgrading, and just always clean install...

lucky i didnt had anything on that partition. anyway i will download 8.04 and do fresh install if u guys dont have any other suggestions
