Hi all. Running Ubuntu Netbook Remix on a Toshiba NB205. Been very pleased with it, but after running some updates, it won't boot.
I'm not a technical user AT ALL. I read this and it helped me understand what was going on:
http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/u...nitrd-bug.html
but I can't put together a solution from it.
The "boot screen" is titled with the line
Code:
GNU GRUB version 1.97~beta4
and gives me the option of booting 2.6.32-22-generic, 31-21-generic, 31-20-generic, 31-19-generic, 31-14-generic and the (recovery mode) of each of these. It won't boot in any of them.
The boot sequence hangs after saying
Code:
sd 2:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk
and then says
Code:
Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
- Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
- Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
- Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/c2d9d292-4e14-41a1-aa97-0a92a34d190a does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
and then it kicks me out to BusyBox and gives me an (initramfs) command line.
Have no idea what to do next. Really don't want to have to reinstall the whole OS. Help!
Thanks,
Matt
