Ubuntu installer will automatically set up dual-boot?

I have been away from Linux for a couple years. Burned ISO of 10.04. Is there an option during install to let the installer automatically set up the dual-boot?

In the past I have partitioned the hard drive manually, set up home, boot, swap, etc. Now I am lazy. Will the Ubuntu installer create/resize partitions needed?

Thanks for any help.

Yes it will do that with the partitioning. It can use the remaining free space, a whole drive you specify, delete all partitions and start from scratch, etc. The only issue I have has to do with my bios. I have three SATA's and one IDE. The bios says the IDE is the first in the order. Some distros see it as first, others as last. But like I said that has to do with the way the bios is.

As far as booting. Yes. It will set up a Windows boot option, that never failed me. Now getting BSD and Linux to play nice is another story most of the time, lol.

Edit:Ubuntu is now using Grub2 if you run into problems or just want to check out the doc's on it..

Thank You.

I think I will work on creating an image of current OS, then install Ubuntu.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Your welcome.

Also this thread may help to get the basics set up in case you forget a few things or if they changed since the last time. The person that started this thread is completely new and has settled on Ubuntu. Around page two of the thread is where it gets into Ubuntu.
