My wife had a Dell Mini 10 netbook, it came with Ubuntu 8.04. All along she has had some issues with certain things (no need to go into them now), I was thinking an upgrade might fix some bugs. I would like to stick with Ubuntu on her netbook. I remember that there used to be an Ubuntu version specifically for a netbook, but now I can't find it on ubuntu.com.
What version should I use? I would like something very light weight that is optimized for the small screen. Is there a netbook version of Ubuntu that I am just not finding?
Sorry, but you really do "need to go into" the bugs you're experiencing if you want help fixing them.
Ubuntu Netbook Edition no longer exists as a separate entity as of 11.04. It's the same Unity interface whether you have a netbook, laptop, or desktop. I recently test-drove the 11.04 release on my Dell Mini 9 with excellent results.
8.04 has reached its "end of life" so it is definitely time to make the switch. I recommend test-driving a few different distros until you find one you like, good luck!
Thanks to both of you. I will look into both the 10.10 netbook edition, and Ubuntu 11.04 to see if it runs smooth on the netbook. I will let you know of the results. One thing I will have to do is a USB stick install, since I have no CD Rom drive. I don't have experience with that, so I will create a thread if I have issues.
