i installed ubuntu from the cd. it froze all the time. i installed 8.10 again and upgraded. nothing changed. ive 1Go of memory. i was wondering if its possible to fix this. does anyone else have the same problem?

I've installed ubuntu 9.04 via live-CD on an USB disk. it works fine, maybe due to media problem. my bet, double check your CD. ciao...

well, for now i dont feel like upgrading anymore for i did nothing but installing, rebooting and reinstalling since last thursday

I found that 9.04 liked to freeze and reboot itself. Disabling anything that involved direct rendering seemed to prevent it. I was using the latest [180] available binary driver for my video card (nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS), and perhaps I could have tried reverting to [177] but instead decided to just roll with Debian in the end.

Ubuntu 9.04 seems to be behaving itself on my laptop, which uses an Intel GMA 965 for graphics acceleration.

The upgrade is as buggy as my ex-wife. My problems went away with a clean install.
