I added a file on my desktop to my repositories list, and now I can't use synaptic at all. The other app installer deosn't even want to start up. Also, I can never log in to root in terminal.... it always tells me that authorization failed.
it says:
E: Malformed line 37 in source list /etc/source.list (dist)
I added the file like this:
I went to synaptic, entered teh repository dialogue, clicked add, clicked custom, typed deb then typed the location then the detail, and added it, but it told me the same error message
in the mean time you could go to /etc/sources.list
as root do (or sudo s -)
do a vi sources.list
scroll down to line 37..
type 'i' (for insert mode)
at the beginning of the line enter a # (this will rem out the line)
press ctrl-c
enter ':wq' (that'll save the file
now try it again.. it won't load the offending line.. then post it here so we can look at it
