screensaver not working in xfce

Hello. My screensaver was working, but then when I was watching a video, I did something to disable it (I can't recall what). Anyway, now it is not working, and I can't figure out how to get it back to working. I have gnome-screensaver installed (version 1.0.1ubuntu2 for amd64). I'm using xfce, set up from a regular ubuntu installation. I'm running ubuntu 14.04. I can't find anything in the settings manager for screensavers.

Are you a member of the 'video' group, or whatever ubuntu uses?

Code:
cat /etc/group |grep video

I got rid of gnome-screensaver and installed xscreensaver. So, it works now.

being in the same group as the peripherals you use is generally a good thing, can do no harm and may do good. You may get permission to use them :-P. Without messing with your user's main groups, I think it's

Code:
usermod -aG group1,group2. . . your_user
