Running Ubuntu Hardy from a flashdrive

I've been trying to get Ubuntu Hardy to run on my flashdrive, but can't get it to work properly. I've followed instructions on pendrivelinux.com and edited the bug out of the initrid.gz too, but it only works when it wants to. Sometimes it just doesn't want to boot up properly and other times it looses its persistency. Has anybody done this successfully with Hardy? There is a disctree folder I'm suppose to copy from the live cd, but I don't have that folder on the cd!
