Problem updating Kubuntu from 7.04 to 7.10 version

Hi. I am having problems updating Kubuntu from 7.04 to 7.10. I followed the website's instructions at

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading

and started the network update (recommended).
The fetching of packages was completed successfully. Then it started to install the packages. Everything was going well, until the update program froze at about 62%, when it was updating some texlive package (I believe some Mongolian language package, which I don't need at all). I had to quit the version updater. I was able to reboot and KDE loaded well, but when I want to go back to adept manager to complete the update it tells me that there is another updater running. When I choose to resolve the issue it doesn't do anything. So I can only enter the adept updater in read only mode. Any help? Thanks

It sounds like adept was ended without getting a chance to remove its lock(s). Just as a guess see if /var/lib/dpkg/lock exists. If it exists try deleting the lock file and see if the problem goes away.

hi, may be you can try this.
run your konsole & type these commands in order:

step 1: do full current distribution upgrade
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

step 2: edit your system's /etc/apt/sources.list. Replace all word "feisty" to become "gutsy", and then save it.

step 3: upgrade your aptitude (aptitude handles dependencies better than apt-get)
$ sudo aptitude update
$ sudo aptitude dist-upgrade

save your session, reboot, and enjoy your new kubuntu 7.10
