Printer Lexmark Z600 no response

The printer is recognized in the device manager listing in Gnome (System > Administration > Device manager).

When I add a new printer, the printer is detected, so I use the suggested defaults. ( I do not know which port it is on, but I figure that if the OS detects it, then it knows which port it is on). Also, I do not know which driver is required but I am guessing that the suggested driver is correct, since the printer is detected.

When I try to print a test page, nothing seems to happen. The printer is switched on and no error messages are returned.

Any suggestions please ?

AFAIK, that series of printer is not Linux friendly. This is generally true for the cheap low end printers in all the lines.
