MODEM on HP PAVILION a705w not RECOGNIZED!

I have on my machine a PCI INTERNAL Agere Sytems V.92 56K WinModem thats not being recognized does anyone have any SUGGESTIONS on HOW to make it work so that I can Access the Internet in UBUNTU. Any HELP here would be appreciated.

what do you mean not being recognized? If you mean its not working right out of the box, it probably wont, you have to get the drivers for it.
try this in terminal

sudo lshw

or try this

Code:

sudo lshw -C modem

scroll through the list and you should see it listed, under *pci. Then you can search for its driver, etc.

If you'd spend a couple of minutes with Google, you'd probably find a drivers package for yourself. I take it that you are using Ubuntu since you're writing on this forum, but even then it's a good idea to add the distribution you are using to your profile, just in case. If you can't find a binary package for Ubuntu, you can also grab the source package, but for that you might need to install some additional programs like a compiler to your system, through Synaptic for example.
