Manual Video Setup?

I have a really old funky emachine board with intergrated video that can only be disabled by putting in a video card. I have a nvidia geforce 2 PCI card in there now. Auto detection of my video is out of the question. How do I install kubuntu with out it auto detecting my video and how do I setup my video manually?

I tried installing kubuntu with out the card in there and I ended up with a lower than 800x600 display setting that it wouldn't let me change. And I only get about 1MB of memory for my on board video with no 3d. So I really would like to get this video card (even though it's old) to work with 3d support.

Update: I've been able to get a 1024x768 on this board with out the card. So I've got 2d working fine. Though I'd still like to get my old nvidia card to work so I can have at least some 3d support for some games.

A driver can be selected manually by editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf. The driver you specify must already exist on your box. An example of the section to edit:

Section "Device"
Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5200]"
Driver "nvidia"
EndSection

so do you want to use the onboard video or the geforce2? Your NVIDIA card should be supported by the driver from nvidia with full 3d.
