MAC problems
I've got the 5.04 PowerPC distrobution of Ubuntu and after intstall, on the first boot and all subsequent boots ubuntu will startup with 2 serious problems.
the first message when still in text boot mode is displayed as this
/pci@800000000/mac-io@10/ide@20000/disk$0:3,/boot/vmlinux :Input/output error
From that I gather that something is maybe wrong with the physical volume that I'm booting off of. But I hit enter to continue the boot and it sits on "Please wait, loading Kernel" for as long as I let it until I reboot.
I then use the live cd to see if that will boot all the way until I actually log in and thats when I get into problems.
Firrst, Nautilus will not start and the majority of the panel is missing after I clear all the "ERROR: Did not load such and such applet" Usually the clock and workspace switcher and all that stuff on the default bottom panel.
The other problem is that the resolution is by default set to 512x78 or something crazy like that. The Bondi Blue G3 that I have will display 1024x768.
As it is, this is totally unsuable as a system. It won't even boot off of the hard disk, so if anyone has some advice for any of this out there, I would love some input.
Thanks!
