Linux TCP/IP Printing

OK, sounds like a dumb question, I am having a hard time setting up a HP LaserJet printer in Linux to act the same as TCP/IP printing in Winblows. From my XP box, I simply added a new port (TCP/IP) and everything worked fine using an internal 192.168.1.2## static IP address. So, I figured IPP/CUPS would be the equivalent... well, it didn't work out.

After playing with all the options under the sun, it finally printed a few garbled up lines of text. So, what am I doing wrong here? The printer has a JetDirect NIC card which I just assigned an IP address to through its settings.

Suggestions???

Use the Jetdirect configuration option instead (IP_addressort_number)

Thanks for your reply... I am not sure what you mean.

It keeps printing:
POST / HTTP/1.1
Content Length: 261
Constant-Type: application/ipp
Host: 192.168.1.111
User-Agent: CUPS/1.2.8
Expect: 100-continue

Then a bunch a junk..

And the printer will not stop.

Suggestions???

Thanks, although I wasn't able to find the printer conf file, I was able to use the data and update CUPS, and got it to finally work. Thank you for your feedback to this forum.
