ld static link failed ????

When I boot Ubuntu on my laptop I get the message that it is prepairing restricted drivers. It then hangs there for about 3 minutes and then I get the error,

'ld static link failed input/output'

What does this mean?

The laptop boots the rest of the way and works no problems that I see.

Google probably has. Please copy & paste the error message. Then click Search. See what happens. Read the links. Top of the list is probably this post (google indexes fast!)

Which "Ubuntu" are you running, on which "laptop"?
