Kubuntu 20.04 - Did the latest update to uninstall the desktop?

Did the latest update to Kubuntu 20.04 uninstall the desktop?
It looked like it was going to update gcc, g++, libstd and such.
Then, rebooting was not possible, so I had to open the console and type reboot.
When it rebooted, I could not log into the desktop and the login screen looked weird.

I had to do
sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop

WTF. I typed
sudo apt remove gdb
and that is the reason why it uninstalled the rest

The following packages will be REMOVED:
gdb kinfocenter kubuntu-desktop kubuntu-settings-desktop plasma-desktop plasma-widgets-addons plasma-workspace
sddm-theme-breeze

KDE is desktop it tends to have odd dependencies for some software. Looks like gdb is one of them. Though really Kubuntu a debugging program is a dependency. Why am I not surprised.

I was testing out Q4OS a while back which is KDE the os has Konqueror as a dependency OMG.

I see.
Well, I only tried to uninstall and reinstall gdb because Qt Creator was crashing when I run my program in debug mode and I add a variable to the watch list.
It didn't solve the problem but at least I have an alternative way to inspect my variables.

I'll mark this thread as SOLVED.
