Are you unable to see system logs anything?
On a working driver install I can see the following :
its fedora but I would imagine that apt generates logs as well
Code:
root@gerp Scripts]# grep -i epson /var/log/messages
Nov 20 00:33:41 gerp yum[13616]: Installed: epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.3.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64
Nov 20 00:36:31 gerp colord: Profile added: EPSON-XP-600-Series-Gray..
Nov 20 00:36:31 gerp colord: Profile added: EPSON-XP-600-Series-RGB..
Nov 20 00:36:31 gerp colord: Device added: cups-EPSON-XP-600-Series
Nov 20 00:38:14 gerp colord: device removed: cups-EPSON-XP-600-Series
Nov 20 00:38:14 gerp colord: Device added: cups-EPSON-XP-600-Series
Nov 20 14:48:19 gerp colord: Profile added: EPSON-XP-600-Series-Gray..
Nov 20 14:48:19 gerp colord: Profile added: EPSON-XP-600-Series-RGB..
Nov 20 14:48:19 gerp colord: Device added: cups-EPSON-XP-600-Series
And from my yum log since I used yum localinstall :
Code:
root@gerp Scripts]# grep 'Nov 20 00:3' /var/log/yum.log
Nov 20 00:33:41 Installed: epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.3.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64
On a debian based box I guess you would grep around in the following :
Code:
grep -i 'cup*\|epson' /var/log/{dpkg.log,faillog,apport.log}
That might show you something. Hope that helps. Maybe. TIMTOW
