Install Ubuntu


HI,

I just down loaded Ubuntu on the hard drive, how do I install it from the hard drive.

dont think there is a way to install from hdd, unless you use something like vmware.

That should be an ISO file you've downloaded, and you would burn it to a CD-ROM, to boot from.

How can I write ISO files to CD?

Here's how to install Ubuntu directly from the harddisk (but that's probably advanced).

* On Windows. On Ubuntu, simply drag the file to your CD burning device.

I may partly be repeating what Robert is saying, but here's what I did:

I used Windows to download the ISO file.

I used ISO Recorder, which I downloaded for free off of zdnet, to turn the download into a bootable disc. ISO Recorder is an extremely easy program. Once you have it downloaded (I think) it immediately associates itself with all ISO files. From there it's just a right-click to "Open with" ISO recorder, and that's that.
