I can't seem to make evilwm appear in my sessions menu. (ubuntu)

locate shows it in /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions/evilwm.desktop
(along with 20 other wm's I've never seem before.)
I also made sure it was excecutable.

looking at other threads show another place to add the evilwm file (/etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/ <file> but my path differs to the point where I'm
getting lost. I keep finding myself back here to put the file.

#:/etc/X11$ ls
X Xsession.options default-display-manager xinit
Xresources XvMCConfig fonts xkb
Xsession Xwrapper.config rgb.txt xorg.conf
Xsession.d app-defaults templates xserver

a few of these make sense as a location AFAIK, but what do I know?
Any help is appreciated.

cheers
