How to stop system mail?

I removed exim4 because I dont need it but then 3 new processes popped up after, They are Master, Pickup and, qmgr. I read about them having something to do with the system mail agent, I dont use mail. How can I completely remove the system mail so these processes go away without coming back?

Which distro you are using?

Disable those services from starting at run level start up.

While removing services is a good way to keep the machine lean it isn't the only way to stop services. Avoiding stuff like 'rm -f /etc/rc5.d/S24avahi-daemon' or 'mv /etc/rc5.d/S24avahi-daemon /etc/rc5.d/K24avahi-daemon': from the GUI: System > Administration > Services and from the CLI: 'sudo update-rc.d -f avahi-daemon remove'. Also the Ubuntu Documentation may be worth a read.

I didnt know about the command line " update-rc.d -f " Thanks. I have read online about using System > Administration > Services but I dont have that in any of my menus. I am using Xfce.
