Question how to get a 5.1 suround?

Hi all! this is my first post in the forum...!

I have a 5.1 creative speakers suround, my audio card is a sb live! 24bit, and I use breezy.

I ran the command: speaker-test -c6 -D plug:surround51

and -thank god- all of my speakers worked perfectly.

So my problem is: when I run a multimedia application, such as gnomeradio, beep media player, xine or totem I get sound only from the 2 front speakers and the subwoofer.
I checked alsamixer, all the volumes are up!
and if I mute the center speaker or the rear speakers the sound makes no different!

that means that only 2 front of my speakers, and the subwoofer are working ok,
the rest have no sound!

how can i get all of my speakers to work when i run multimedia apps and games etc.. ?
thanks for your time...!

copied from another thread on the same subject

"It utterly depends on your Sound Card. Mine works on all my systems. Be sure that in alsamixer "wave center" "wave surround" "center" "PCM" and "surround" chanels are enabled but all "LFE" chanels are disabled. LFE is to emulate matrix of 5.1 on 4 speaker systems"
