how do I install a software to ubuntu (in usb)?

Hi!

Hello to everyone, I'm new here...

I've just download ubuntu to usb, I dont have internet connection yet but I still wondering..
Can I download a software to the same usb (while I'm in window's where I have internet) and then install it when I reboot and upload ubuntu instead of window's?

Thanks in advanced!

avishag.

If I understand what you are saying correctly, yes you can download in windows put on the usb stick then transfer over to linux and install off the usb drive after. Ubuntu is pretty good at picking up usb sticks as soon as you put them in and mounting them without you doing anything (atleast it has been for me).

Thank you very much,
I downloaded the files (which I wanted to install) but I didnt find the way to access them and install them from ubuntu.
I can see them when I am in windows and I open F:\ but how do I do that from ubuntu?

Thank you,

Hi avishag,

you can user dpkg command to install ubuntu package (.deb)

Code:
dpkg -i package.deb
