How can I make my cinnamon desktop the default? No screensaver can I do a screen save?
I have installed cinnamon on my Ubuntu 18.04. I change to the desktop by terminal command $cinnamon --replace and I get the cinnamon desktop up but the terminal is still active.
I cannot do a screen saver with this how can I force a screen save?
How can I make this the default desktop?
I also want to boot up in this desktop as well is that possible?
Logout. Look at options on your graphical login manager to select the environment you want to log into. The replace command will only work for the existing session..

I have done it another way and made a Super Windows 10 version. It has now to desktops. Gnome and Windows 10.
First I installed the 18.04 LTS changed the panel to the bottom and added the Windows 10 wallpaper. Then I installed cinnamon via the Terminal. I went to the app Computer > usr > share > applications hovered over cinnamon copied it then pasted it in the top left corner. Then clicked on it and Trusted it then renamed it as Windows 10. When I click on it I have the Super Windows 10 desktop.
I have only a few problems the settings manager does not do the wallpapers anymore and power does not work.
Also printscreen does not work.
I hope people with Windows 7 will dual boot with my Super Windows 10 and then copy their files over to safety on the desktop so in my small way will increase the uptake of Linux Ubuntu.
I have put how to make and setup a good desktop on my website ginamiller.co.uk/superubuntu.php

While not forbidden per se, I think a certain limit has been reached and I ask a mod for intervention.
Additionally, they keep promoting their own website.

Why have you no answers just criticism read the rules yourself?
I did load cinnamon by the way and then found it would not do a screenshot.
Anyway I have found a really good distro that is far better than the dumbed down 19.3 It has the Latest Gimp and VLC without having to install over the terminal bug that Mint 19.3 has it is Linux Lite 4.8 really good.
I can see that you do not want more people to take up Linux and your so called help has been the exact opposite.

Glad you found something that works for you!
Regarding ondoho's response:
While a bit abrasive in delivery, he is not wrong. It is very good to read things like "How to ask a question" and the LQ Rules. This is not just for the sake of enforcement.. it can help you avoid responses like his.
Doing a quick search is never a bad thing.. as this is basically the largest forum for Linux which exists (from my understanding), it is highly unlikely that a basic issue such as this has not already been addressed. Finding such a solution saves time and in the end, reduces redundant posts.
If you (OP or otherwise) are new to Linux, just be aware of the facts:
1. Research is required.
2. People on the forums are other people like you, not support staff.
3. You didn't pay anything, you aren't owed anything.
4. Almost every problem can be researched and resolved with a Google search. In the event you can't find it: forums.

I did a search and when I do not find it in Googleing I come here Sorry I thought that was Linuxquestions were for.
I disagree however if you come direct it makes the LQ the oracle and then Google adds Linuxquestions answers to it's search results. I always do the check on LQ before posting and the questions had not been answered before.
The funny man who spends his time on Hexchat Linuxmint and on LQ telling everybody they are off topic is upset because I found out that Linux Mint is no longer open source and since he is part of the team wants to keep it that way and would not assist in the key and quite clearly does not want for their code to be checked or the daily release to be downloaded. He wants to keep it as a cathedral.
