Help! Horrible sound quality
Hello, All.
Ok, so I am STILL a prenewbie and need your help and guidance. After reading the forums here, I haven't seemed to find the answers that I am looking for. Here it goes:
I am using an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Mobo with on board sound. The sound works, its just not nearly as crisp as Windows sound. I've read that this has to do with something called DMIX that samples music, (cd's, mp3's,...) at 48000 instead of 44100 by default. How do you access DMIX? How do yu change the sample rate? I've also read that there are files called asoundrc and asound.conf. I don't seem to have these files. I am using Ubuntu Edgy and I don't think those files were installed by default, (unless I just can't find them)... My command line skills are dated as I am only proficient in dos. I am using Amarok in a Gnome environment. The EQ works, there's just not enough boost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Vodergam
