Didn't get mine either. I gave up and downloaded the ISO. Since it just is one 700 meg CD, and everything else is downloaded through the repositories, it isn't any big deal. But I wonder why they bother with the free CD thing if they can't even get them sent out. This distro has a six month release cycle...but it apparently takes a couple months to send out the discs?? It is a nice gesture and all.

Ubuntu on DVD

I got an Ubuntu 5.04 DVD with the April 2005 issue of Linux Pro Magazine. I picked up the Magazine at Barnes and Noble. It cost $9 (with membership) or $10 without. The DVD is bootable and worked great. It comes with 2800 packages. Now if I can figure out how to get my WiFi card to work I'll be all set.

I ordered months ago (maybe early March?) and nothing yet. Not a huge deal since I'm on broadband for now... but didn't want to redownload the PPC version for a friend.

Got mine last week. Took a really long time. Half of them are already gone (gave them to my friends). I'll only save one x86 and one PPC for myself .

Works great, using it right now

havent gotten mine. im about to just go and download it via bittorrent.

im not complaining or anything, but i think they should have a better shipping system. people will get tired of waiting and use other distros that are easier to download (smaller in size).

I have yet to receive my copies either, but I am sure, being in Canada, that they will be here in the next four weeks. One rule of thumb I keep is, always wait at least eight weeks before worrying, unless there is money involved. Then start panicing after six.

Other than that, I also could not wait and downloaded the ISO and installed it, removing SuSE 9.2, which I feel was a great move. I am a one OS man.

Ubuntu is, so far, the best distro of linux that I have used. I am looking forward to receiving the official discs in the mail.

i went ahead and download the ISO and burned it. just my luck, the cds came a few days ago. i was expecting some cheaply burned cds with philips or maxell labels or something, but these are some damn nice cds with some nice cardboard cases, included in the case is a live cd and an install cd. ubuntu rocks!
