gobuntu- what the...?


Hi All,

If you're going to bother with the free licensing version of ubuntu called "gobuntu," why the heck not just go with debian? Duh. Is this just a "let's cover all of our bases" project?

I believe the reason is that Debian still contains non-free software in places, specifically firmware. Not to mention all the software in the repository marked "non-free". I love Debian though, and prefer it to anything else...

Yes, but let's get back to our roots at this point. BTW- the debian logo is so much cooler. Wear it with pride. ;-)

btw- As far as I know, the non-free repositories are NOT SUPPORTED, for philosophical reasons. My god, we're using ice* by default.

Seems like they are from the Debian Policy Manual.

I think gobuntu was a response to the popularity of gnewsense.
