Dwl-520 Rev. E1

Have any of you have any problems with this card. I'm using breezy 5.10 with the DWL-520 PCI card and it will show up in the gui network tool and but I cannot get it to respond. It will ativate and everything but still has problems. I was like this after installation. It automatially loaded the hostap module.

In the gui tool I get 2 wireless adapters wlan0 and wifi0. I only have 1 adapter installed. What is the problem?

Thanks in advance!
Tom

Nin881,

I have just installed Breezy because the MADWIFI site said my DWL650 would work without going through the installation of the MADWIFI drivers. The network configuration and driver seems to work: both LED lights are flashing. Howver it is not working. When it is activated it also blocks my eth card as well. The only way I can get on the net is to disable the ath card (wehoch defeats the purpose of having it in my laptop...)

It worked fine in Fedora 4 but I upgraded to FC5 and things became just too complicated so I thought I'd give Ubuntu another try.

This of course it of no help to you; just a bit of sympathy.

Regards
John

Nin881,
I just got my card working; not the same as FC4 but it works. In Breezy you have the network monitors in the top rh corner near the date. Set that to "lo". Then open System > Administration > Networking and then deactive the connections you are not using. In FC4 I did not have to deactive anything; I could unplug the eth and the ath would take over; no worries. It seems that with Ubuntu the cards need to be turned on and off.

I hope thid will help you.

Regards
John

I have been using the dwl-122 usb adapter which works like a charm with ndiswrapper. I'll just use that for now.

Thanks,
Tom
