Does the installation of Ubuntu 13.04 require an internet connection?
I want to install Ubuntu 13.04 in one of the first few days of the next week. In the past when I used to reinstall Ubuntu 12.04 on my netbook, I would just connect the cabled internet connection to it just incase it needed it. Is this unnecessary? I want to use the internet to play Dust 514 on my playstation 3 whilst Ubuntu 13.04 is being installed on my netbook. Does Ubuntu 13.04 download files whilst it it being installed? (If this is the incorrect subforum for this post, please tell me where it would be more appropriate.)
No, it's not required (only reccomended).
If you did plug the machine into the network, it would simply download any updated packages since the initial release while it is installing.
Ubuntu 13.04 is not supported anymore since January, Ubuntu 13.10 will be end of life next month, so I would recommend to go for 14.04 instead.
Also, Ubuntu may need an Internet connection when you want to use a different language than English to download language packs.

That's good to know. I will just download the updated packages after it is fully installed. Thanks for replying so soon!

I see. I'll just get Ubuntu 14.04 instead. I only use English so that is not a problem for me. Thanks for your quick reply!
