does anyone know how to get ubuntu 16.04 to play a dvd disc?
Hi there
I have just begun to use Ubuntu 16.04. I'm impressed so far, but have encountered my first stumbling block. I can't get it to play a DVD disc. I'm aware that this is something to do with codecs and so on, and I'm also aware that there's a way to get it to play them. I have installed ubuntu restricted extras and still no joy either in VLC , xine or SM player.
HI David and welcome on board. Can you share with us the error you get pls? Like does the media player find the disk and then throw an error or maybe it fails to find the disk?
Thanks for that, I've put both the above commands into the terminal, entered my password and still no dvd play. I'm not sure if I've enabled the multiverse ubuntu repository though... Apologies if I sound dim. I'm a new user of ubuntu!
