Clashed Network Interfaces

Hey,

Just installed Ubuntu and am trying to connect to my router with an ethernet cable. However my laptop also has a wireless card that is clashing with the network interface of the ethernet adaptor.

ifconfig reads something like this: eth1, eth1_clashed. Any way of giving the ethernet adaptor eth0 and the wireless eth1 to stop the clash?

Thanks for reading.

hello,

pleasure reading ;-)

I believe that NICs can be assigned a name depending on mac address by a file called /etc/iftab.

look at the last post on this thread:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...%2Fetc%2Fiftab

i would imagine ubuntu is the same as debian.... the utility is called ifrename

Cool, thanks for the quick reply satinet

I played around with that command and it's working now.

Cheers.
