Acroread Not Working in Hoary

While this issue might go away with the impending upgrade to Breezy, I'm going to ask anyhow.

I'm running Ubuntu on an older box and the performance of xpdf is a little slower than I'd like with viewing pdfs with lots of images. So I figured I might give acroread a try.

Installed the following packages in Synaptic:
acroread
firefox-acroread
acroread-plugins

I've got an Acrobat Reader icon in the Applications menu, clicking on it does nothing. I think the icon is calling /usr/bin/acroread which is just a shell script.

If I run /usr/bin/acroread from a terminal I get a "Installation directory not found" and that's it.

I've tried reinstalling the packages.

Anybody else run into this?

"Anybody else run into this?"

I have run into so many problems every time I try to install acroread that I no longer bother to install it. I use kpdf. Adobe needs to get their Linux act togather.

On my system, acroread is installed to:
/usr/X11R6/bin/acroread
Perhaps you need "/usr/X11R6/bin" in your $PATH
