9.10 vs 10.10

I am installing a new hard drive in a extra PC and was going to put Ubuntu as my OS. I have a 9.10 Live DVD and was wondering once installed are there a upgrade download for the 10.10 or are there much difference in the versions. Thanks for the advice.

You can upgrade 9.10 to 10.04 and then to 10.10, but there was major changes between them and upgrade not always go easy. In my opinion better is to install newest system, I think there are no big difference in size of all upgrades and new CD. You don't must download whole DVD, download CD or run network install. The last method is the best for me, I can select minimum required programs and during installation I will get the newest versions of packages.

ubuntu 9.10 will be supported until April 2011
so you will need to upgrade to 10.04 or 10.10 .
ubuntu 10.04 has long term support for about 2 or 3 years.
10.04 is rock solid , 10.10 is also good but i dont like to upgrade every 6 moths or every year, 10.04 is perfect to me.

i recommend you install either 10.04 or 10.10

Since I have the 9.10 DVD I should be able to insall it then do a update to 10.4. Ill try running the live DVD before installing. If it works Im going to install a new hard drive. FYI the new hard drive is much bigger and Im putting the old hard hard drive in a older PC.
