6.10

Has anybody seen any change for the benefit with the new version? I've been using Enlightenment so that may be way I noticed nothing other than cosmetic changes on GDM and boot.

BTW, how to we get it to show the boot process. all I see is the splash and a progress bar. No need to copy windows with the stupid splash screens.

Later,
Tom

Code:
sudo nano -B /boot/grub/menu.lst
Find the kernel you boot to and delete the word splash. Then save (Control-X, Y, Enter). No more stupid splash--you'll see the boot process again.

I also don't notice anything major in 6.10. I do like the new look! Fortunately I was the very few who did not experience any problems when upgrading from 6.06 to 6.10 through the internet.

Gnome seems a bit faster, and the overall look is a bit "shinier".

Unfortunately, I was not among the few who do not experience problems upgrading . Probably because I have lots of packages installed from the Universe repos, and Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu.

I would suggest to anyone upgrading to use Aptitude, and DEFINITELY NOT the upgrade manager. At least aptitude will let you see what it is going to remove, and you can stop it. Upgrade manager just removed stuff without even telling me what it was removing.

I had no problem using the update manager. I really didn't see any change what so ever considering I use enlightenment for a manager.

Thanks for the tip on the splash screen
