32-bit Chroot - Possible problem with proxy

Hi all.

I've been using Ubuntu for a while now, and I'm absolutely loving it. It's the first linux distro I've felt comfortable enough with that I can delete Windows completely.

I'm using the 64-bit version of Dapper (6.06) btw.

My problem is that there are some 32-bit things I need to install (like WINE, Flash etc.), so I need to setup a 32-bit chroot environment. I've tried searching for instructions on the internet but haven't had much luck. Whilst following this guide, I got the following error after executing debootstrap:

Code:
I: Retrieving Release
E: Failed getting release file http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/dapper/Release
I think it might have something to do with the HTTP proxy I have to use here at Uni, but I've configured everything I can find about proxies on my system - even the HTTP_PROXY environment variable.

Any ideas what's wrong? Thanks in advance.
