11.10 and how do I turn it off?

i refuse to sing the Blues, as much as I loved to before I quit the stage! But some idiot that is forever warning friends not to up grade before the first thirty days are finished convinced me to go ahead.

Does anybody know how to turn this Oneric beast off? Witout unplugging it.

Hitting Alt+SysRq+b will cause it to reboot and you should be able to kill it when grub comes up.

Or open a terminal and;
Code:
sudo halt

In conjunction with Widget's suggestion, you can also use:

Code:
sudo shutdown -h now

I tried sudo halt to no avail at all. The code ¨sudo init 0¨ did however kill my computer. after it and I rested for six hours, all the icons are now in place and functioning.

My expresion of gratitude to all; Thank you!
