LXer: Void Linux: A Salute to Old-School Linux

Published at LXer:

I’ve been using Linux for a very long time. Most days I’m incredibly pleased with where Linux is now, but every so often I wish to step into a time machine and remind myself where the open source platform came from. Of late, I’ve experimented with a few such distributions, but none have come as close as to what Linux once was than Void Linux.

Someone at LXer already commented here on that

Seems to me that if you are STILL a Losedoze user, then you probably shouldn't upgrade to Slackware or t this Void Linux as the distro of first choice!
Even though I predominantly use Slackware and Debian-based distros myself, that's a good point .
Current Windows 7/8/10 users and past XP users could try Ubuntu-based distros such as the *buntu's, Linux Mint, Zorin, Linux Lite, elementary OS, Bodhi, and deepin.

As more advanced try-it-and-see distros, Arch and Arch-based Linuces, the non-systemd Devuan, and Void Linux are looking really really interesting right now, IMNSHO.
Void Linux even stands to soon(?) break into the top 100 most-popular distros at DistroWatch
