Although I've thought of making something like this as well, I think it's going to be hard to do properly. Road Rash on the Megadrive was mode 7 (or some mode that was not true 3D). With 3 dimensions it's much harder to hit someone while racing on a bike. In fact, even in mode 7 it was hard to hit people at high speeds and sometimes they had to program the AI to keep up with you so you could fight them. I have no idea how multiplayer would work on this. How are two people gonna fight on bikes at high speed. Hopefully they will implement some way to match speeds with your enemy and other such helpful features ... or rather features that would make the game possible and playable.
I hope it turns out well, and if it does then I'll buy it.
